ZENITH BANK VISITS EOCO

A five-member delegation from Zenith Bank Ghana Limited paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of EOCO and her management team.  The purpose of the visit was to strengthen existing collaboration with the Office and to introduce the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank to the Executive Director and to also thank the Office for the services they render to the public.
The Executive Director of EOCO, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, in her welcome remarks expressed her profound gratitude for the visit. She took the delegation through the mandate and functions of the office and shared worrying observations on various crime trends especially laundered monies through the operations of forex bureau.  She also charged the bank to continue to act swiftly in reporting suspicious transactions.
The CEO for Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, Mr. Henry Onwuzurigbo, in his remarks, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception while sharing his views on some of the issues handled by the Office. He bemoaned heinous financial crimes that are committed for self-enrichment to the detriment of the banks and, therefore, called for the need to strengthen the already existing collaborations with the Office to help combat these financial transactional crimes. He added that the bank gives high priority to KYC and transaction monitoring using technology.
The Executive Director of EOCO urged the team to ride on the collaborative assistance to fight banking fraud and other related matters to bring sanity to the banking sector. She added that even though most of these cases are reported to the Police Service, the banks can always rely on the Office for any additional support to eliminate delays in the arrest, investigations, and prosecution of suspects of these crimes.
