More than 6,000 vulnerable people, particularly women and children in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono
Region have benefited from free health screening and renewal of their membership under the National Health
Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The screening and renewal of NHIS was done by the NPP parliamentary candidate for Wenchi constituency, Hon
Boafo Kojo Frempong.
The health screening covered general health examination of the non- communicable diseases (NDCs) such as high
blood pressure (BP), malaria, blood sugar among others.
Honourable Boafo Kojo Frempong told our correspondent Nana Anfreh Damanata on the sidelines of the exercise
that it was his ambition to assist in the development of the area in any way he could.
The screening and renewal of NHIS was organized for three different areas namely Subinso II, Wenchi and Nchiraa
respectively.
Boafo Kojo Frempong together with the Wenchi NPP constituency executives also took his campaign to Subinso II
and Wenchi Thursday market centers to interact with market women.
The exercise also created opportunity for the NPP PC to share the good news and vision of the Flagbearear of the
New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Alhaji Mahamud Bawumia.
"People have been coming to me for financial support to settle for their medical bills because they don't have health
insurance or are not able to renew so I feel if the health insurance card can save lives, then I have to help those that I
can help to save their lives,” Boafo Kojo Frempong reiterated.
He further stated that he will continue to do the best he can but also need the support of all people who are eligible
to vote to ensure his vision of becoming MP comes to fruition.
A team of medical professionals consisting of Doctors, Nurses, and Lab technicians from the Wenchi Methodist
hospital and staff from the Wenchi Municipal office of the NHIS was present to provide the health screening and
renewal of their membership under the NHIS.
Deputy Director of Nursing Service at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital, Mad. Cecilia Kumi Amoah commended
Honourable Boafo Kojo Frempong for the initiative.
She urged those who were identified to have certain health conditions to seek medical attention at health facilities.
Some of the beneficiaries of the NHIS renewal and free health screening were extremely appreciative of Hon Boafo
Kojo Frempong's generous gesture.
They expressed their gratitude for his efforts in organizing the event and providing them with access to essential
healthcare services.
