The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has notified that all heads of pre-tertiary schools (both private and public), parents/guardians, publishers and the general public that a book titled “What is Happening to me” by Usborne Books has not been submitted to NaCCA to undergo the necessary assessment to attain approval for use by schools and students in Ghana.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the list of approved books can be assessed on the agency’s official website (http://www.nacca.gov.gh). It must be noted that the agency is embarking on a random visit to pre-tertiary schools and bookshops. Drastic measures shall be taken against the publishers of books, bookshop, and schools that are in possession of books found not to have gone through the assessment process by NaCCA,” NaCCA stated.
In a press release signed by Dr. Edward Appiah, Director General, NaCCA expressed the hope that heads of schools, parents/guardians, bookshops and the general public will cooperate with NaCCA to ensure improvement in the delivery of quality education for learners.
