The Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Saeed M. Jibril has announced the presence of large Gold deposits in his region that can be mined by any investor.
The Hon minister disclosed this when he took his turn to address the Press on the going-ons in his region at the Minister’s Briefing in Accra.
The minister intimated that the region has large Gold deposits running into several billions of dollars that has created an enclave called the ’Dollar Zone’.
According to him the town has become very notorious for illegal mining activities. He alluded that the place has become full of unconquerable people very difficult to drive them away.
He therefore called for large-scale companies to come to his region to mine there to create jobs and give money to the State.
The minister also told journalists of large deposits of clinker that can be used for cement production. He postulated that the clinker is mined and exported to Burkina Faso whiles the country imports cement from other countries to meet the needs of the country.
He called on prospective investors come to his region to invest in these ores that can give employment and money to the teeming youth who migrate to the South for nonexistent jobs.
This in his view will bring down the cost of cement in the country.
He also made mention of the existence of over 100,000 hectors of arable land good for cereal and tuber crops cultivation in commercial quantities.
These and other cash crops like cashew and cassava abound in his region with irrigation and warehouses for storage purposes.
He said the region though young is fast developing to catch up with the old regions.
