The Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai in the Western North Region, have called on the residents of the area to vote against New Patriotic Party (NPP) come 2024 elections to end the power struggle in the Constituency.
The executives led by their constituency secretary, Joseph Ayambilla alias Watoo, said struggling for power within their opponent in government is one of the reasons for the lack of development in the Constituency.
He told the media at a press conference in Bibiani that, it took their opponent in power about two years before they could build consensus to elect a Presiding Member (PM), Kwame Asamoah, who doubles as the constituency chairman of NPP.
He noted that monies that could have been used for developmental projects were wasted on organizing assembly meetings to elect PM.
According to their statement, NPP in the constituency is a sharp division along the lines of the former MP, Mr. Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu, and the current MP, Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng factions.
“We blame these two factions for the abysmal performance of the ruling government in our constituency”, the secretary said.
Mr. Joseph Ayambilla further told constituents to vote NPP out of power in the 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections so that the struggle would end and pave the way for rapid development of the area.
He mentioned that developmental projects such as Bibiani Estate road, Subri Nkwanta to Akoti/Etwebo road, Bibiani Abattoir, Ahodwo Estate bridge, Chirano Community day school, and AstroTurf at Sefwi Anhwiaso had been halted due to a lack of cooperation among local leaders.
He accused their opponent of failing to fight against illegal mining activities,  poor management of sanitation issues, and a lack of quality healthcare facilities.
Mr. Ayambilla bemoaned the lack of attention of NPP leaders to resettlement issues between affected communities and Mensen Gold Limited Bibiani.
He blamed the MP for not being on good terms with his PM as well as the paramount chief and his elders, adding that, it was high time they resolved their differences to propel the development of the constituency.
Mr. Joseph Ayambilla said confusion has erupted in the Constituency between the former MP, Constituency Chairman, and the incumbent MP about which camp to be considered by the President to become the next Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani which need to be addressed tactically to avoid any chaos.
