The Ghana Police Service has apologized to a lady who was the victim of sexual abuse by a police officer.

In a release, the Ghana Police Service announced that the new Inspector-General of Police and the Service itself was extending apologies and support to the lady.

The Daily Searchlight believes that what is happening in the Ghana Police Service is a deeply refreshing and hopefully, signs of a permanent and new direction, away from subterfuge and cover-up.

Indeed, the Ghana Police Service seems has decided, thirty years after Ghana adoped constitutionality, that it would follow suit.

It is the deeply held desire that our Police Service actually becomes a service, and that it becomes responsive to the needs of modernity and the citizenry.

We hope that this trend will continue, and that in time, Ghanaians would gain back the view of respect and admiration that is rightfully due the police.

The Ghana Police Service and the Inspector-General of Police over the weekend apologized to a victim of an attack by a police officer.

The attack was captured by a viral video, which was seen by the Ghana Police.

The police stated that its review of the video indicates that the male person involved in that shameful despicable act is a Police officer stationed at the Regional Operations Unit, Bono Regional Police Command.

To this effect the Police has immediately arrested the officer and launched an investigation into the incident. The Police officer, No 51530 General Lance Corporal Victor Antwi Yeboah, has been arrested for violating the dignity of the victim and is currently assisting the investigations.
