A safe pair of hands between the sticks is about as important as it gets in Football Manager 2023.
A top goalkeeper can often be the difference between success and defeat, so it’s a position you need to be 100% happy with before you go into each and every game.

Regardless of how much money you’re operating with, here are the top goalkeepers to sign in FM23.
Alexander Nubel
Bayern (on loan at Monaco)
Despite being out on loan, Bayern will sell you Nubel immediately for £3.1m. His wages are a bit steep but he’s one of the few budget goalkeepers who can offer you more than a year or two of top service, so he’s worth the extra expense.
Claudio Bravo
Real Hispalis
Bravo is statistically the best goalkeeper you’ll find at this price range. The 39-year-old will cost you £925,000 but you’ll need to start looking for a replacement straight after.
Nahuel Guzman
Tigres
Another ageing option, Guzman is 36 and available for £650,000.
Rodolfo Cota
Leon
Comparatively pricy at £1m, Cota is 34 so can still do a job for a few more years yet.
Alvaro Montero
Millonarios
At 27, Montero is another long-term option. He’s an absolute giant with impressive reflexes.

Carlos Acevedo
Santos Laguna
Acevedo is one of the best options you’ll find at this price point but he also comes with some of the highest potential, so bring the £2.3m man into the right setup and you could have a fantastic option on your hands in a few years.
Agustin Rossi
Boca
26-year-old Rossi is in Boca’s reserve setup at the start of the game and can be snapped up for £2.2m. He’s a good stopper now but has the potential to grow into a top-tier option, although just how much improvement you’ll get out of him is unclear
Remko Pasveer
Ajax
Back to a veteran option with Pasveer, who is 38 and available for as little as £300,000.
Salvatore Sirigu
Parthenope
Italy international Sirigu has seen it all throughout his career but is primed for one last move at £1.1m.
Marcelo Grohe
Al-Ittihad
The last option here is Grohe. He’s another top-tier option but the 35-year-old will cost you £2.8m.
Dominik Livakovic
Dinamo
One of the top goalkeepers playing outside a major league, Livakovic is no secret to any seasoned FM player. This year, he goes for a little north of £9m.
Ivan Provedel
Lazio
Provedel has only just joined Lazio but once he is willing to talk, he’s a smart signing if he costs anywhere close to £10m.
Kepa
Chelsea
Kepa’s wages are significant but his £12.5m price tag isn’t really. Chelsea want him off the books so it’s a pretty easy deal to complete.
Samir Handanovic
Inter
Handanovic is still an elite goalkeeper but the fact he’s 37 sees his asking price drop to an affordable £3.9m. As far as short-term options go, there are no better.
David Soria
Getafe
At £5.75m, Soria is a great signing. His current ability isn’t as high as some of the other options here but neither is his value. You get what you pay for.
90min recommends
Ugurcan Cakir
Trabzonspor
Another who should be known to any long-term players, Cakir is a real steal. The 26-year-old is one of the best options without going crazy with your money as he’ll cost you under £7m.
Jeremias Ledesma
Cadiz
Ledesma has a £13m release clause but should actually be available for a little cheaper than that at £9.75m.
Mattia Perin
Juventus
The backup in Turin, Perin is far too good to be sitting on the bench. He’d be a starter for nearly any other team on the game and he’s yours for £6m.
Guillermo Ochoa
America
Mexican icon Ochoa is still going strong at 36. He’s good enough for a top division, however, and you can get him for the combination of £575,000 and some tidy wages.
Altay Bayindir
Fenerbahce
At 24, you know you’re getting a long-term option with Bayindir. Valued at £8.25m to start the game, he’s got the potential to be a really nice goalkeeper.
Diogo Costa
Porto
At £52m, Costa is by far the most expensive goalkeeper we have for you here, but he’s also the only player who can call themselves elite at 22 years old. With potential to take him through the roof, he’s worth the investment.
Alex Remiro
Real San Sebastian
£35m is a very reasonable price for Remiro, who is one of the best goalkeepers in Spain.
Andre Onana
Inter
Having only just joined Inter, Onana won’t leave immediately, but he’s likely to get frustrated behind Handanovic in the pecking order and could soon hit the transfer market. Anything around £20m, pounce.
Walter Benitez
PSV
Similarly, Benitez has just joined PSV on a free, but if you’re looking for someone a few months into the season, he’s yours for around £17m.
Juan Musso
Atalanta
Big teams have been watching the real Musso for a while now. You can get him for around £18.5m.
90min recommends
Alex Meret
Parthenope
Once again, Meret is sensational value on FM. The 25-year-old is a top goalkeeper with some even better potential, so to be available for £15.75m is unreal.
Gregor Kobel
Borussia Dortmund
Kobel is very similar to Meret in terms of age and potential. His £38m price tag is comparatively high but it’s actually still great value.
Emiliano Martinez
Aston Villa
The Premier League has some top goalkeepers and Martinez is up there with the best. His £35m price tag is more than fair.
Yann Sommer
Borussia Monchengladbach
Swiss icon Sommer is approaching the end of his contract and can be snapped up for £20m at the start of the game.
Keylor Navas
PSG
PSG don’t need Navas as they already have Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 35-year-old is available for £14m and could make an immediate impact for a top team.
