Spain will look to make it two wins from two in the Luis de la Fuente era when they face Scotland in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Tuesday.
La Roja saw off Norway 3-0 last time out but weren’t as convincing as the scoreline suggests, meaning De la Fuente could make a handful of changes to try and spruce things up and secure two straight victories.
Here’s how the boss could set up.
GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga – Kepa played a big role in the victory over Norway, making a number of impressive saves.
RB: Pedro Porro – Some rejuvenation in defence could see Porro brought in over Dani Carvajal.
CB: Nacho Fernandez – One of the most underrated defenders around, Nacho made a big block to deny Martin Odegaard last time out.
CB: Aymeric Laporte – Laporte may well be playing his club football back in Spain next year as Barcelona look to lure him away from Manchester City.
LB: Alejandro Balde – The left-back is perhaps the top youngster in his position in the world. The more experience he gets now, the better he’ll become.
DM: Rodri – He won’t have endeared himself to Arsenal fans with his tackle on Odegaard but, from a Spain perspective, that’s exactly why he’s in the team.
CM: Mikel Merino – Merino may once again sit back in a deeper role alongside Rodri.
CM: Dani Ceballos – Ceballos is in sublime form right now. He changed the game off the bench against Norway and deserves another start.
RW: Dani Olmo – The scorer of the opener last time out, Olmo should retain his place.
ST: Alvaro Morata – Depsite watching Joselu score twice off the bench, Morata’s new status as team captain should earn him another start.
LW: Gavi – His industrious work divides opinion but Gavi remains an integral part of both the present and future of Spanish football.
