Tamale, July 06, GNA – A three-week-long training course has begun for selected national service personnel in the Tamale Metropolis to sharpen their skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

This is to enhance their employability as most employers and corporate organisations require job seekers to have such skills.

The training is being undertaken by Simba Ghana, youth empowerment, governance and peacebuilding non-governmental organisation, and supported by Intercom Programming and Manufacturing Co. Ltd (IPMC) Ghana.

Mr Abdul Mumin Abdul Rahaman, Executive Director of Simba Ghana, speaking during the launch of the training in Tamale, said it was to expose participants numbering 180, to Microsoft office, graphic designing, and basics of networking amongst others.

He said the digitisation drive agenda of the country required young graduates to be equipped with basic ICT skills to enhance productivity hence the training.

He said: “We have plans extending it for the total coverage of all service personnel in the Northern Region.”

Mr Abdul Hamid Yushawu, a participant, commended Simba Ghana for the initiative, saying it would give them a competitive advantage in the job market.
