Accra, July 30, GNAā€”Some customers of MTN have expressed satisfaction at the swift pace at which the SIM registration process is being carried out by the Company.Ā

They also expressed joyĀ  at the ease involved in the exercise.Ā

When Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the MTN Office in the Achimota Retail Centre on Saturday, hundreds of people had gathered at the car park seated under canopies and waiting to have their sim cards registered ahead of the July 31 deadline.Ā

Some people who did not have seats were in a queue waiting for their turn.Ā

One customer who only mentioned her name as Adwoa, told the GNA that in all, she spent between 15 to 20 minutes upon arrival till finish.Ā

She said most people delayed because they had refused to join the queue and wanted to ā€œcut corners.ā€Ā

Another customer, in his early 40s, said he came in around 1000 hours and completed the exercise around 1030 hours.Ā

He urged those yet to register to get to MTN offices and have it done.Ā

An MTN official explained that the exercise had been smooth so far with no difficulties, except for a few technical hitches beyond their control.Ā

He said the office would be opened tomorrow, Sunday, July 31, 2022, and urged people yet to register their cards to do so.Ā

The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation announced the mandatory registration of all SIM cards in Ghana.Ā

The registration exercise started in October 2021 and is scheduled to end on July 31, 2022, after which unregistered SIM cards will be deactivated.Ā

Many Ghanaians, including the Minority in Parliament have called for an extension of the deadline stating challenges in getting Ghana Card for the registration.Ā Ā
