Self Help Initiatives Are Antidote To Infrastructural Development Challenge In Our District-DCE Tells Stakeholders

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South-East, Mr Thomas Owusu Ansah says the easier way to ensure speedy infrastructural development of the District is to undertake self help initiatives.

By self help initiatives, he means, stakeholders at local level will be fully responsibly for funding, initiating, planning, executing and completing of infrastructural development projects.

And unlike central government funding projects, the DCE stated self help initiated projects are mostly executed on time.

All things being equal, at most in the next ten years, Mr Owusu Ansah stated that, the MP and he desire District could have a Nursing and Midwifery Training College, boarding house facilities for Adugyama and Sabronum SHSs, and a Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) school through the self help initiatives in addition to education fund.

At a durbar held at the District Assembly Conference Room, Adugyama, on Tuesday February 15, 2022 to launch a Home Coming Programme aimed to solicit for funds from natives of the district in particular, corporate bodies, and individuals to execute development projects, the DCE reaffirmed his desire to bridge infrastructural gap between the Area and peri-urban/urban areas within the shortest possible time via self help initiatives.

Also, at the durbar, various committees entrusted with responsibilities to among other things to see to initiate, plan, coordinate and execute activities that will form part of the Three-Day Programme starting from April 15 to April 17, 2022 at Fawoman were inaugurated.

The committees are planning, protocol, organising, administrative, media, finance, sponsorship and fund raising.

Members of the committees mostly natives of the District, were made up of traditional leaders, assembly members, journalists, technocrats and other professionals.

The DCE charged on members of the committees to work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Mr Kaleem Abdallah Adam, a member of the protocol committee, thanked the DCE and the Member of Parliament for honour done by appointing them to serve for the good of District and promised to work hard to meet their expectations.

The Home Coming Programme is dubbed “Developing Ahafo Ano South-East Through Self Help Initiatives”.

The Member of Parliament for the Area, Mr Francis Adabor-Manu was represented at function by Mr Issah Ibrahim, the Presiding Member of the District Assembly.

He pledged the MP’s support to ensure the success of the Home Coming Programme and urged other stakeholders to support the initiative.

Nana Awuah Gyau Atuoni, Gyaasehene of Sabronum, Nana Boakye Yiadom Kotoko, chief of Adugyama and Nana Ataa Gyasiwaa, Queen mother of Betinko took turns to express their delight and support to the initiative.

As custodians of lands, the traditional leaders said they stand ready to provide vast lands for developmental projects.

An amount of 24,830 cedis was realised during the fundraising session of event.

With the DCE to grace the function were Mr Kaleem Abdallah Adam, District Coordinating Director, Mr Hamid Kramo, District Director of Education, Mr Emmanuel Asuah Dadzie, Headmaster Adugyama SHS.

Also in attendance were traditional leaders, assembly members, heads of departments, religious leaders and well-meaning natives of  the District.
