Chelsea striker Sam Kerr has won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award, giving her a clean sweep of the WSL’s four major individual awards for the 2021/22 season.

Kerr had already won the FWA Footballer of the Year, WSL Player of the Season and PFA Fans’ Player of the Year prizes, rounding off her collection with the players’ player gong as voted for by her fellow professionals. She also walked off with the WSL Golden Boot again.

The Australian is only the third overseas recipient of the award in its 10-year history following in the footsteps of now ex-Chelsea teammate Ji So-yun and golden boot rival Vivianne Miedema.

Kerr scored 20 WSL goals during the 2021/22 campaign to fire Chelsea to yet another title. She was also instrumental to FA Cup glory in May, having also played a starring role in the heavily delayed 2021 FA Cup final in December.

The 28-year-old, who joined Chelsea in early 2020 after previously splitting her time between Chicago Red Stars in the NWSL and Perth Glory back home in Australia, netted numerous important goals throughout the season, and said of her achievements: “It’s a massive honour I think, whenever you’re voted by your peers. I think that’s the highest honour as a player so, it’s an amazing feeling.”
