The Founder and Chief Advisor of International Youth Fellowship (IYF), Rev. Dr. Ock Soo Park has stated that “The Clean Accra Project” can be sustained if government enhances the advocacy on mind-set education concept of the citizens as a tool to address the sanitation menace confronting the country.

It is for this reason that Rev. Park is initiating steps to engage the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and stakeholders in the sanitation sector towards the construction of a multipurpose youth center at Amsaman in the Ga West District in the Greater Accra region to promote the teaching and learning of the mindset education programme among the youth to sensitize them on environmental cleanliness.

According to him, a true reflection of cleanliness in the life of a person or society can only be sustained when the essence of ensuring and maintaining this state of cleanliness is well grounded in the heart, mind and soul of individual and the society at large.

Rev. Dr. Ock Soo Park made this assertions at a press conference about using the mindset education concept as a tool for the Clean Accra project geared towards developing a comprehensive framework and strategies to curb the filth in the environment particularly in central business of Accra.

According to him, this requires a systematic and deliberate and a consistent mindset transformation to make the agenda of keeping a clean environment not just a rhetoric but an attitude and a way of life on daily bases.

He said 3,390 tons of solid waste is generated in a day in the city of Accra as government spreads millions of money to address the waste menace as a result of weakness in the mindset of society to change positively on clean surroundings”, he said adding that cleanliness comes from the mind-set of people and as such must be demonstrated anywhere in the human environment.

He said the International Mindset Education Institute (IMEI), an affiliate of International Youth Fellowship is of the opinion that the most important part of achieving true change is by first addressing the mind-set of society on environmental cleanliness.

Rev. Dr. Park will use the occasion to pay a courtesy call on the President, religious and traditional leaders, government officials among others on environmental cleanliness and how it could be sustained.
