The 33-year-old Uruguayan’s new contract runs through the 2023 MLS season at least, with a further unspecified period beyond that.

ā€œI am very happy and excited to continue my career with this team and this city,ā€ Silva said in a club press release. ā€œI look forward to continued success under Pablo [Mastroeni]ā€™s guidance, and I cannot wait to kick off the new season in front of our amazing fans.ā€

Silva originally joined RSL in July 2017 and has since gone on to make 122 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

Prior to joining Salt Lake, the former Uruguay youth international enjoyed spells in Europe with the likes of Almeria, Real Zaragoza, Real Valladolid, and Las Palmas in Spain, as well as Danubio and Penarol in his homeland.

Silva captained RSL last season while Damir Kreilach was sidelined through injury, and will now look to use his experience to guide the club back into the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2023 after a one-year absence.
