Racing Louisville figure Nadia Nadim will sit out the rest of the 2022 NWSL campaign after tearing her ACL.

“Unfortunately I tore my ACL in my left knee in our last game. Obviously I’m devastated. But I have faced obstacles and rough times since I was a child- so you might say I’m an expert in overcoming them,” Nadim said. “I was born a fighter and I know that nothing can break me down.”

She originally joined Racing Louisville in 2021, recording three goals and one assist before picking up her first ACL tear in September. She sat out the rest of the 2021 campaign, vowing to come back stronger this year.

And she did. Nadim currently stands as the team’s leading goal scorer with six tallies in seven starts.

But her absence will now come as a huge blow for the team, as Racing sits in 11th on the NWSL standings with a slim chance to make the postseason. With just two matches remaining, and without their top player, Racing Louisville must strive to improve upon its 4W-9L-8D record to qualify for playoffs.
