The public has expressed disappointment and concern over the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) decision not to sign the Peace Pact advocated by the National Peace Council.
During an interaction with Oyerepa News reporter Bernard K Dadzie, citizens criticized the NDC’s stance, stating that it indicates their intent to cause trouble during the 2024 general elections.
“We urge the NDC to prioritize Ghana’s peace and stability. We have no other country to call our own, and we must maintain the peace we enjoy,” said a concerned citizen.
Others emphasized that Ghana’s peaceful nature is paramount and that political parties must work together to ensure a tranquil electoral process.
The NDC’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, had earlier set conditions for the party’s participation in the Peace Pact, citing skepticism about its effectiveness.
The public’s appeal comes as the National Peace Council strives to ensure a peaceful electoral process. The NDC’s refusal to sign the pact has raised concerns about their commitment to maintaining peace during the elections.
