The Ghana Police Service has clarified an unfounded statement made by DCOP Mr.Gabriel Prince Waabu during a panel discussion on joynews dated 19th February, 2024.
Police said his statement concerning election security are unfounded and do not represent the position of the Ghana Police Service.
In a statement signed by an Assistance Commissioner of Police Director, Public Affairs Grace Ansah-Akrofi said there will be no different approach to the 2024 general elections as Police work together to deepen our democratic values during the 2024 elections and beyond.
“We would therefore like to dissociate the Ghana Police Service completely from the statements and apologize to the Ghana Armed Forces.The conduct of the officer is being subjected to internal disciplinary processes of the Ghana Police Service”,the statement said.
The statement appealed to the general public to support the police service and other sister security agencies that police works with to ensure peace, security, law and order, before, during and after elections.
