Six years after leaving the club for Manchester United, Pogba made his second switch to Turin on a free transfer this summer and made his unofficial second debut for the club in Friday’s victory over Chivas Guadalajara.

A glamorous friendly against Barcelona is coming in the early hours of Wednesday morning but Juventus have confirmed that Pogba will play no part in it.

“Following the pain reported in his right knee, Paul Pogba was subjected to radiological investigations which revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus,” the club reported.

“In the next few hours he will undergo a specialist orthopedic consultation. Therefore, he will not take part in the trip to Dallas to continue treatment.”

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Pogba is likely to require surgery on the injury and could miss the next two months as a result, meaning he may not make his first appearance for the club until early October.

Should he miss the next two months, Pogba could miss nine matches, including the first two group-stage games of the 2022/23 Champions League campaign.

For Pogba, this latest setback is a continuation of the injury problems which blighted his final year at Old Trafford.

A nasty hamstring injury derailed his festive period, before a calf issue ended his United career prematurely a month before the end of the campaign.
