The Osu Traditional Council has rubbished the claim of the Owoo family that it owns a parcel of land at the Achimota forest.

They said the so-called Owoo family are a group of people who have formed a cartel in Accra stealing lands and amassing wealth for themselves!

Addressing the media in a press conference organized by the council on Tuesday, 25th May, 2022 at the Nii Odoi Kwao family house at Osu, the head of family of the Nii Odoi Kwao family, Nii Odoi Kwao 11 said there are many of such groups in Accra parading themselves as families with fictitious documents claiming lands here and there. One of such groups he said are a group of people calling themselves as The Nii Odootsoo Odoi Kwao family of La. He lamented that what saddens him is the involvement of some people at the Lands Commission in these dubious acts.

One of the council members Nii Kobina Bonney V, Osu Alata Mantse, who is also a member of the Traditional Council warned that if these are not corrected the people of Osu will stand up and fight for their rights.

He said the people of Osu are known to be peaceful due to their closeness to the former seat of government but if justice is delayed for a long time the people will lose hope.

A member of the Traditional Council, Nii Teinor Ashigente II said the Owoo family does not have even an acre of land at the Achimota forest and that it will be an error by the government to give the said land to them.

In conclusion Nii Odoi Kwao II warned that the terrorists are within us and they are those group of people looting lands in Accra and have contracted militants who call themselves land guards and terrorising innocent people.

“If this is not an act of terrorism then what is it?” He asked.

It will be recalled that the government of Ghana recently release a parcel of land to the Owoo family and this has sparked a whole lot of controversies in the country.
