NSS CEO tour the five Northern regions

The Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi, has completed a five-day tour of the five northern regions in the country.
The tour which was aimed at interacting with National Service Personnel and staff, ascertaining their state of security, welfare, and how they were coping with their jobs took him to Jirapa in the Upper West, Bolgatanga in the Upper East, Gambaga in the Savanna region, Nalerigu in the North East and Tamale in the Northern region
Apart from knowing the state of the personnel, it was also used to discuss issues relating to developments in the scheme and what was being done to get the best for them.
Appreciation to the personnel
Speaking to the media after the five-day tour in Tamale last Friday, Mr Osei Assibey, eulogized the personnel for their dedication and commitment towards the cause of NSS and urged them to continue working hard.
He also commended the various stakeholders who have been hosting the personnel posted to them during their service.
The CEO assured the personnel and staff of the effort being made to improve their welfare and their security to motivate them to be happy so they could work harder.
Conducive environment
He appealed to the stakeholders to create enabling environment for the personnel and the staff to be happy so they could give off their best at the post for the development of the communities posted to and the nation as a whole.
Mr. Osei Assibey hinted at efforts being made by the Scheme to come out with incentives as a form of motivation
He charged the personnel and staff to be good ambassadors of the scheme by not doing things that would cause people to complain about their behavior.
Highlight on innovation
The CEO used the tour to throw more light on the new area the Scheme was looking at which was Agriculture to add to its operational areas to boost the production of food and other crops towards the development of the nation’s economy.
Mr Osei Assibey also took time off his busy schedule to visit some schools where NSS personnel have been posted and interacted with their headteachers to find out about the impact being made by the personnel in teaching and learning.
Some of the schools visited were the Paulina and Jeffisi Basic schools, Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School (SHS) all in the Upper East region, Wulugu SHS and Tinguri R/C primary A in the North East region.
The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, on behalf of the various stakeholders, praised the NSS CEO and the personnel for their roles and support towards the development of various departments which have been benefiting from their operations.
Appeal for support
He appealed to the Scheme to consider increasing the allowance of the personnel to be able to cope with the current state of affairs in the country.
The Regional Minister described the role played by the personnel as very crucial since they took charge of various departments and render several services which contribute immensely towards the development of the country.                                                         
At Gambaga, Mr. Osei Assibey visited the Gambaga Prison and after interacting with the management presented assorted items and an undisclosed amount of cash to them.
