No Spillage On Volta Dam

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has informed the general public that due to the reduction in rainfall in the Volta catchment area over the past week, the inflows into the Akosombo Reservoir have also subsided to normal levels, and there therefore no threat to the safety of our Dams.
It has further stated that the planned spillage of water from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams will not be carried out, as earlier announced.
The authority however cautioned all persons living along the banks of the Volta River downstream of the two Dams must remain alert until the rainy season is over.

VRA sttaed that it will also continue to monitor the situation, work with stakeholders, and issues updates should further developments occur.

“We wish to thank all stakeholders for their support and cooperation,” the release stated.
