MoFA receives donations towards National Farmer’s Day celebration

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has received cash and farm inputs towards the celebration of this year’s National Farmer’s Day slated from 29th November, to 3rd December, 2021 at Adisadel College Park at Cape Coast in the Central Region.

The institutions are Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM) Gh¢398.700.00, Access bank Gh¢15,000.00 Rainbow Agrosciences Gh¢25,000.00.

Receiving the items, the Deputy Minister Yaw Frimpong Addo expressed the Ministry’s gratitude to the said institutions and thanked them for the continuous support of the farmers Day celebration.

He said farmers have contributed to the food security of the country hence they must be awarded and honoured as such, adding that it is for this reason government have rolled out agricultural related modules and initiatives to enhance the growth and development of the agric industry.

“Government in this regard have invested in its flagship programme, dubbed “Planting for Food and Jobs” an initiative that has transformed the entire agric sector and the immense benefits farmers have received from the programme is overwhelming.

He however urged farmers to continue to demonstrate their commitment towards agrifarming and explained that government have fervently put in place the needed farm inputs and incentives to support farmers across the country.

The Deputy Minister appealed to corporate bodies and agric related institutions to emulate the shining example of the institutions saying the gesture is all about putting smiles on the faces of farmers and will also urged the youth to have the passion to venture in agriculture.

This year’s National Farmers Day celebration is the 37th in the series and is organised by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and Ghana Cocoa Board under the Theme “Planting for Food and Jobs, Consolidating Food Systems in Ghana” with major sponsors including Agricultural Development Bank, Ghana Export-Import Bank and Stanbic Bank.
