Mr. Mike Coffie, one of Ghana’s budding musicians, known by the trade name ‘The Worshipper’, has released a hit single to mark this year’s Fathers’ Day celebration.

According to Mr. Mike Coffie, Father’s Day has often been celebrated relatively on the quiet without many pump and pageantry as compared to Mothers’ Day.

“There are even some who do not even know about its existence, and even those that know, don’t remember when it falls as compared to Mothers’ Day. Perhaps this situation is so because of how fathers in the past must have  conducted themselves over the years. Most fathers then were seen by children as punishers with little communication between them and their children that exuded love and affection. Fathers of today, however, are performing roles and functions that were hitherto, deemed the preserve of mothers, and showing so much love and affection,” Brother Mike Coffie told the Daily Searchlight.

He stated that the song was inspired by one elder in his church, Dr. Eben Asiamah of ICGC Resurrection Temple at Comm. 21, Tema three weeks ago, who asked him to write a song for fathers on Fathers’ Day.

“About 30 mins after our conversation the song was ready to the glory of God. I sent it to my pastor, Rev. Dr. Michael Perry Tettey who reviewed it and recommended that I added something about God to it. The portion of the song that says “To the greatest and loving Father God we thank you” came about as a result.

“This song is aimed at creating awareness about Fathers’ Day and the roles and functions contemporary fathers play in the lives of their families, to generate affection and appreciation for fathers, and to celebrate them” he said.

He dedicated the song to all loving, caring, and responsible fathers all over the world, especially to his pastor, Rev. Dr. Michael Perry Tettey who has been so much an inspiration to him in his ministry.

“We doff our hats to you, Fathers! God bless you!” concluded Bro Mike Coffie.

(The song is due to be uploaded on youtube later Thursday).
