The Gonja and Mamprusi Traditional Council have called on the security agencies to exercise restraint on the arrest of the people of Daboya to let peace prevail.
Following the death of one person and the destruction of properties. Lukula and its environs under the Wasipe Traditional area in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region have been characterized by tension between the people of the Wasipe Traditional area and the Janga Traditional area in the North East Region.
The conflict between Gonjas and the Mamprusis at Lukula and its environs over the past days is quite unfortunate and deserve condemnation in no uncertain terms, the chiefs have stated.
They said that the people of Gonja and Mamprusi in these two great kingdoms have coexisted peacefully over the years without any problem. The event that led to the death of one person and the destruction of several properties in the affected communities is unfortunate, uncalled for, and a dent on the long-standing cordial relationship between Mamprusis and Gonjas that had existed over centuries.
According to the two Traditional Councils, all sons and daughters of the two Traditional areas who have inculcated the habit of using social media to foment troubles are hereby to desist from such acts and allow the security agencies and responsible authorities to handle issues amicably.
The two Councils in a released statement called on all sons and daughters of the two kingdoms to remain calm while the law enforcement agencies are well poised to restore sustainable peace in Lukula and its environs.
