A shift in tactics has inspired a four-game winning streak which has carried Jurgen Klopp’s side up to fifth in the table, and while there is still a significant gap to the top four, the Reds have enough time to get the job done.

Fulham were in a similar position not long ago, but their form trended in the opposite direction and now Marco Silva’s side have a real uphill battle if they are to secure any form of European football next season.

Liverpool team news

Thiago Alcantara was a surprise omission from the squad to face Tottenham after picking up another injury, and he could be forced to stick on the sidelines alongside Jurgen Klopp, who may be spend a large portion of this game sat down while he nurses the pulled hamstring he suffered during the game.

Diogo Jota picked up a knock against Spurs and hasn’t been training, so he definitely won’t start and faces a battle to earn a spot on the bench.

Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita are both back available, but Calvin Ramsay and Stefan Bajcetic are out for the season.

(4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz

Fulham team news

Defender Tim Ream is out for the season after breaking his arm against Manchester City and there are fears that Andreas Pereira may have suffered a similar injury to his ankle in the same game. The duo will join Layvin Kurzawa and the suspended Aleksandar Mitrovic on the sidelines.

Willian will also need a late exam as he battles a thigh injury which may not have healed enough for a start.

(4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Diop, Adarabioyo, Robinson; Reed, Palhinha; Wilson, Cairney, Solomon; Vinicius

The loss of both Ream and Pereira is an enormous blow for a Fulham side whose dependency on their top performers has been made abundantly clear in the past few weeks. The Cottagers, already without the goalscoring of Mitrovic, have lost their primary creator and defensive anchor, and that doesn’t bode well.

Such uncertainty is not the best preparation for a Liverpool side who have settled into their new system with terrifying ease. Klopp’s side will fancy their chances of a fairly comfortable victory here.

Liverpool haven’t exactly been perfect in defence themselves, and so there may be a goal for Fulham fans to celebrate, but their red-hot attack should carry them through with ease.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Fulham
