The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken a swipe at former President John Mahama for saying that he fought corruption better than the Akuffo Addo government under his leadership.

The party said John Mahama, unlike President Akufo-Addo, cannot make any bold to fight against corruption in this country. “The less said about John Mahama and corruption, the better. His very person has been cited in several matters including the Embraer purchase investigation by his own President and his identification as Government Official One in the international Airbus Bribery Scandal.”

For the vigilance of H.E Vice President Bawumia, he said Ghana would have lost over a billion dollars on the Sibton Switch deal. His solution to corruption in the 2020 NDC Manifesto, is a nebulous scorpion ‘sting’ approach without any specifics whatsoever.

Addressing the gathering during his regional ‘thank-you tour’, the former president John Dramani Mahama said under his leadership, he fought corruption better than the Akufo-Addo government, citing the prosecution of some of his officials.

He has also urged Ghanaians to vote against the NPP in 2024 to pave way for a new government that can assess their stewardship to ensure that they do not make away with monies they may have stolen,

But the former Lawmaker for Adenta constituency disclosed that John Mahama has no plan to fight corruption. “You cannot trust him to fight against corruption, to Manage public finances, Generate employment, Bridge the infrastructure gap, Promote the knowledge economy and engage on the international scene.”

Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoa, the Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made these statements when he addressed the media  on Friday, October 15, at the party Headquarters in Accra.

According to the party, president and Candidate Mahama has a very poor record in terms of political violence. He brushed aside the infractions of the Talensi by-election, tolerated the violent antics of Hon. Collins Dauda’s brother Naba in the then Brong Ahafo Region, and reacted to the incidents of Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections by boasting about his superior credentials relative to election violence, threatening to match the NPP “boot for boot”.

For Buaben Asamoa, unlike President Akufo-Addo, candidate John Mahama cannot and has not been able to make any bold statement on the raging LGBTQI debate. “The country is waiting to hear his thoughts, if any, on the potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The country never heard him on President Akufo-Addo’s bold steps to stamp out political vigilantism that led to inter party dialogue refereed by the Peace Council and the passage of legislation against political thuggery. ”

He stressed that “only losing candidate Mahama and his cabal in the NDC leadership continue to deceive themselves about the outcome of the 2020 elections. The heart-warming record of achievement that the conduct of the election chalked, deserves better from one who seeks to lead the country come the next election.”

He hinted that his posture on the election does not edify the sacrifices of Ghanaian voters who queued in defiance of Covid-19 to register and vote. Often in the same breadth, he reminds Ghanaian families of the pain of losing loved ones during post vote collation by mischievously referring to the regrettable deaths.

President Akufo-Addo is on record as saying not a drop of Ghanaian blood is worth exchanging for electoral victory and the steps he took against vigilantism literally ensured the most peaceful voting process ever. True leadership would not focus on the unfortunate and painful situation for political gain to the detriment of national peace of mind. In any event,

Under the bold leadership of President Akufo-Addo, the former Lawmaker added that the NPP is working to get Ghana to a place beyond poverty, petty political violence and economic strangulation.

“It is on this premise that the NPP is asking to be continued in government beyond 2024, in order to ensure smooth sustainable implementation of the policies that work for Ghanaians. We acknowledge that we are far from satisfactory solutions for all but we belief strongly that John Mahama’s NDC is not the solution.”

To Buaben Asamoa, Mahama’s song about abandoned projects is utterly misleading. “He keeps at it even though he has been answered over and over again. Typical of that is the Saglemi housing mess where 5000 homes for $200 million turned into less than a 1000 habitable homes and the NMSI contract of $175 million for seven district hospitals of which only the Dodowa hospital was delivered.

Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has also called on Ghanaians to channel the same energy to fight the passage of the LGBTQI+ to the economic growth of the country.

According to him, NPP desires a country where traditional values connects to the future and the inhabitants within her culture are refined in order to protect the vulnerable in the community. Adding that NPP is working to get Ghana to a place beyond poverty, petty political violence and economic strangulation.

He is of the view that political anger does not solve economic problems rather it 8s the cool, calm review of trajectory of development under different regimes and a commitment to the best performing regime that will lead to salvation for majority.
