Jamshedpur FC have agreed terms with Aidy Boothroyd to take charge as their new manager for the 2022-23 Indian Super League season.
90min understands that the former Watford and Coventry City manager will join the club with the official announcement to be made either today or tomorrow.
Boothroyd took over a short-term coaching role for the Northern Ireland’s national team last month.
However, the 51-year-old former England Under-21 manager is all set to move to the Indian Super League with last season’s table toppers, Jamshedpur FC.
Owen Coyle left his position as the club’s manager at the end of last season due to personal reasons. Since then, the Red Miners have been looking for a replacement.
Coyle played a major role in the rise of Jamshedpur FC in Indian football. He entrusted faith in youngsters and built the team around them. There were definitely some inconsistencies, but they were all part of the learning curve for a young side.
The Men of Steel were left in the dark when Coyle left as the club reportedly wanted someone with a similar philosophy to take over the reigns at the club.
In Boothroyd, they have exactly that kind of a manager who can create a winning formula consisting of talented young Indian footballers and some experienced campaigners.
