Kintampo (BE/R), July 03, GNA – The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has wooed foreigners and Ghanaians in the Diaspora to visit and experience the hosts of naturally created beautiful tourist sceneries and attraction sites in the country.
Mr Joseph Appiagyei, the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions Director of the GTA made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency during a visit to the geographical ‘Centre of Ghana’ at Kintampo in the Kintampo North Municipality of Bono East Region.
The tour was part of activities of the ‘Meko-Bono’ Homecoming and festival celebration organised in Sunyani by the ‘Bonofie,’ a Ghanaian event organisation promoting the socio-cultural and economic development of the Bono and Bono East Regions.
Under the theme ”Unifying Our People for Development through Tourism and Culture”, the event was supported by the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Sunyani Traditional Council, Bono Regional Coordinating Council, Centre for National Culture, and the Ghana Tourism Authority.
It brought foreigners and natives of the Bono and Bono East Regions to experience the rich culture and traditions of the people and to also contribute to the development of the untapped tourist attraction sites to boost socio-economic development of the two regions.
Mr. Appiagyei stated Ghana was endowed with a lot of natural attractions and many places to relax and feel beautiful and natural environments on holidays, saying foreigners and Ghanaians in the Diaspora must therefore “visit Ghana and feel Ghana” for an unforgettable life experience.
In a related interview, Mr. Kwame Amponsah, an indigene of Sunyani-Abesim living in Maryland in the United States of America who participated in the ‘Meko-Bono’ Homecoming and Festival appealed to the indigenes of Bono to arise and collaborate with the government to harness the regions natural resources and economic potentials to create employment opportunities for the unemployed youth.
