Abankro (Ash), Jan. 26 GNA – The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC), says it is strengthening advocacy on the promotion of digitization in education delivery in the country.
It is also supporting the government’s agenda of promoting Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in pre-tertiary educational institutions.
Mr Isaac Awua-Boateng, the National Coordinator, said the GNECC, which is a network of civil society organisations and professional groups championing the course of quality education, would continue to step up efforts to promote quality education delivery in the country.
Speaking at the 2021 annual delegates’ meeting of the Coalition at Abankro, near Ejisu, he said much emphasis would be placed on children with disabilities and girls living in urban slums and deprived villages in the country.
The meeting, which was under the theme “Fostering Educational Development Effectiveness in Ghana”, aimed at reviewing activities and operations of the GNECC.
It also aimed at providing a platform for networking opportunities and facilitating the exchange of experiences, lessons, and good practices at the regional and local levels.
Additionally, it also afforded the delegates the opportunity to consider, amend and approve the minutes of the previous AGM and to vote on any amendments to the GNECC constitution.
The meeting would also elect new executive members for the various positions in the Coalition.
Mr Awua-Boateng said the Coalition worked in close partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to include children with disabilities and those living in deprived rural communities in the virtual learning platforms.
Mr Joseph Atsu Hormadzi, National Chairman of GNECC, said the group was supporting the ministry of education to improve access and bring quality education delivery to the doorsteps of every Ghanaian child.
He said the Coalition would continue to be a mouthpiece for pre-tertiary education in the country through research, advocacy, and the implementation of good policies for the Ghanaian child.
Mr Hormadzi said the AGM would enable members to adopt pragmatic strategies for effective resource mobilization and projects at the local, district, and national levels.
