Ghana to reap $2.5 billion From 13th All Africa Games Next Year-Sports Minister

The Minister of Youth and Sports has stated that Ghana stands to rope in an aggregate of 2.5 billion
dollars as she hosts the 13th edition of the All Africa Games in Accra in March next year.
This huge money will accrue from TV rights, hospitality, tickets, hosting rights, sports tourism etc from the
4th of March to the 24th of March, 2024.
The All Africa Games were billed to be held this year but have had to be rescheduled to next year.

He made this statement when he met the press at the Ministry of Information in Accra when he took his
turn to inform the country of the upcoming games in Accra.
The three-week festival will involve 21 sports games including Football, boxing, athletics, swimming, Tae
Kwando and Judo, Rugby, Field Events, etc. In all, he said about 4000 sportsmen and women are
expected from 55 African countries.

Infrastructure for the 21 games is almost ready at Borteyman and Legon Sports Stadium, he said.
According to the minister, the sports complex at Borteyman is a world-class one which will be converted to
a Sports Development University in the future.
He indicated that the complex will involve both single and multipurpose sports arenas to accommodate all
the games.
He indicated that the government wants to make Accra the sports centre of West Africa and the African
continent and that is why a lot of money is being sunk into the complex.
He told Ghanaians that his ministry in conjunction with the local organizing committees has collaborated

to ensure the success of the games. He intimated that all the continental protocols have been met to
ensure compliance.
All arrangements regarding arrival of athletes and officials, opening ceremony, actual hosting of the
games, closing ceremony and departure have been done systematically.
He called on the media to give good coverage to sell the Brand Ghana to the outside world.
The minister outlined plans by his ministry and government to develop sports in the country. He hinted

that irrespective of resource constraints, the government is doing its best to build sports facilities across the
country.
All sports associations and bodies were represented at the press briefing.
