Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. John Sanie, has stated the significant progress made in Ghana and globally towards the energy transition policy, with a need to elicit huge investments and the most pragmatic, feasible and practical steps to boost electrification and clean energy technologies.
He was speaking at the Global Energy Transition (GET) Congress & Exhibition 2024 which took place in Milan, Italy, where he represented the Hon. Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
He further indicated that Climate change and the transition to a net zero economy and society, which also means keeping energy supply affordable to drive economic growth and maintain public support for climate action, is the biggest challenge the world faces, especially in West Africa, and that unless governments have a clear plan cum route map, this transition will be all the more difficult.
“It is therefore critical for governments’ energy sector leaders, stakeholders, industry players and community of experts to periodically convene to share and explore tangible, scalable and pragmatic approaches to accelerating the energy transition and net zero emission goals by 2050.”, the Deputy Minister declared.
The Global Energy Transition Congress & Exhibition (GET) is a premier event that brings together Government Leaders, Ministers, CEOs, Thought Leaders, Innovators, and Industry Experts from the energy, finance, hard-to-abate sectors and start-ups to foster collaboration and drive meaningful change, as well as address the critical challenges and opportunities to decarbonise industry and accelerate the global energy transition.
Among the key personalities who addressed this year’s conference on the three key components: The Strategic Conference; Roadmaps to Net Zero Conference; and Project X-change, were Secretary John F. Kerry – 68th U.S. Secretary of State and Rt. Hon. Tony Blair, former British Prime Minister.
