The Minister made these remarks when he met with a delegation from Interpol led by the European Union Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Irchad Razaaly, at his office in Accra to discuss the WAPIS programme.
The Hon. Minister expressed his gratitude to the European Union for their sustained support to the security agencies in Ghana, particularly in the area of capacity building and resource provision.
Ambassador Razaaly agreed with the Minister’s assessment of the WAPIS programme, noting its significance in fostering regional security cooperation.
He emphasised the European Union’s commitment to a continued collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and other security agencies in Ghana.
The meeting demonstrated the strong partnership between Government and the European Union in promoting regional security and cooperation.
The WAPIS programme, with the support of the European Union, is expected to enhance the capacity of security agencies in Ghana and the West African region to address transnational security challenges.
