Adaklu Wumenu (V/R), July 8, GNA- The First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo has urged women to speak against moral decadence in society and not allow anyone to compel them to condone wrong behaviour.
“Don’t let anyone force you to condone their wrong behaviours,” she said, noting that women were unique, endowed and fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God and should not allow anyone look down on them.
Mrs Akufo-Addo said these in speech read on her behalf by Mrs Victoria Korkor Letsa, wife of the Volta Regional Minister, during the International Women’s Ministry Convention of the Global Evangelical Church at Adaklu-Wumenu in the Adaklu District of the Volta Region.
“As women in the church our voice should be heard in every endeavour of life against any evil such as corruption, mismanagement, indiscipline, disrespect for authority, negative attitude towards work and immorality.”
She called on Christian women not to compromise on their duties of teaching the unadulterated word of God, mentoring children in the Lord and to play their role as the virtuous woman mentioned in Proverbs 31, to attract God’s favour and that of men.
Mrs Akufo-Addo described the theme: “Christian Woman, Be a Resolute Faithful Steward,” as apt, and charged all to treat the theme with seriousness as it took hard work of Ruth in the Bible and her ability to be resolute to be a great woman.
The First Lady commended the church for its role in contributing to government’s efforts at empowering women in the nation, upholding high moral standards and churning out women of virtue and integrity who had become role models for the young ones.
She said the role of the Church in nation building could not be overemphasised, noting that one of such roles was watchdog over the spiritual and moral welfare of the nation and charged women never to cease praying for peace in their homes, families and the nation.
The First Lady lauded the church’s Global Impact Financial NGO, which reached out to more than 3,000 clients, with financial products and credit facilities with women of the church forming most of the beneficiaries.
Mrs Akufo-Addo said though there were lot of churches in the country and the gospel was preached everywhere, including on social media, the country was overwhelmed with the so-called prophetic services.
These services, she said, lured women to these preachers who deceived them and destroyed some lives miserably, and, therefore, urged women to be wary of them.
The First Lady said the average Christians had become gullible for miracles but not willing to be committed to standing firm in their faith and putting their God giving talents and gifts to work to earn a living.
She lamented that most women today devoted most of their time watching foreign telenovelas at the expense of productivity and quality family life and asked that they reconsidered their decisions and followed the footsteps of Christ who when on earth worked hard.
There is a dire need for us to begin to live as good citizens of God’s Kingdom, she noted, saying that today’s woman must be firm, determined, show commitment in every facet of life and be strong to surmount the challenges of this world.
Reverend Mrs Vivian Emenyo Doh, the National Coordinator of the Women’s Ministry, said the numerical strength had been a key asset which enabled them to undertake many activities.
These activities, she said, contributed significantly to the spiritual and physical development of the members and was grateful to the Lord for his grace and mercy.
She called for efforts to be intensified to support women, both spiritually and physically, and to encourage them to remain steadfast in the Lord and to avoid roaming from one church to another and from prayer camp to prayer camp.
Mrs Doh disclosed that work had begun on the church’s 70-acre land at Hoviefe near, Ho, for planting of coconut trees as part of the Green Ghana project and to create job opportunities for the people.
The Co-ordinator said there were plans also for the implementation of the church’s orthopaedics and prayer centre and called for support from all.
