Ghana’s total exports reached a record 4 billion dollars, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export
Promotion Authority (GEPA), Nana Osafohene Afua Asabea Asare has revealed.
She has touted the government’s efforts in enabling exporters of locally produced goods and selling their
items abroad.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Information Ministry, she mentioned that ever since the government
came to power, exports has been going up steadily.
According to her, this is the highest in the export sector in the history of the company. This has risen as a
result of a conducive business atmosphere created by the government, which include: tax
incentives, training for exporters, trade facilitation, exposure, good guidance, advice, and financial
support.
The CEO intimated that 17 products in agriculture, manufacturing, arts, and crafts, agribusiness are the
main product areas for export.
Apart from these products, Ghana deals in about 650 different commodities for export but 17 main ones
have hit the international market bringing foreign exchange to the country.
