ELECTRONIC SERVICES BEGIN MONDAY

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced for the information of the general public that its electronic services in terms of Card Replacement and Update of Personal Information is currently available at its offices nationwide and will be available at the El-Wak Sports Stadium from 15th August 2022.
Applicants opting for these services must undergo a pre-approval process by signing an electronic request form.
Under Card Replacement Service, applicants whose cards have stolen, damaged, lost or defective are suppose to conform to the payment rules established by NIA. All stolen, damaged, lost or defective cards will attract a fee of GH30.00 cedis which must be made with CalBank Mobile Banking Platform with the short code*771# or CalBank Online Mobile App or better still at a CalBank branch office.
According to National Identification Authority, cash payment for the replacement service will not be accepted. Adding that, damaged or defective cards must be supported applicably documentation.
Under Update of Personal Information Service, any update which changes the information printed on the face of the Ghana Card already issued to an applicant, will attract a fee of GH 30.00 cedis.
The list of update which attracts the said fee of GH30.00 cedis are as follows:
Change or correction of applicant’s name, Change or correction of the order of applicant’s name, Correction or addition of applicant’s previous name or maiden name, Correction of applicant’s date of birth, Change or correction of the Nationality of applicant, Correction of applicant’s gender, Change or correction of applicant’s height.
According to National Identification Authority, all other updates which do not result in the printing of a new Ghana Card for an applicants are free of charge.
The list of free Updates which do not result in the printing of the Ghana card  exempt applicants from any surcharge.The list are Change or correction of residential address, Change or correction of digital address code, Change or addition of postal address, Correction of place of birth details, Addition or change of telephone numbers and or Email address, Change of marital status, Addition or change of government IDs such as Voter ID card, SSNIT card, NHIS card, Change of disability status, Change or addition of details of spouse, Change of next of kin details, Correction of details of parents, Change of level of education, Change of occupation, Change or correction of color of hair or eyes.
As stated earlier, cash payment for the update service at the El-wak stadium will no be tolerated.
However, document required to update personal information must be supported with Birth Cirtificate, Passport or Gazette notification confirming applicant’s name change with the exclusion of affidavits during registration for applicant’s Ghana card which shows the correction name of the applicant.
In the release stipulated by NIA indicates that, applicant’s date of birth will not be changed but will only rectify wrongly captured date of birth during registration for the Ghana Card.
Applicants requesting for Addition of or change of details of institutional IDs must tender document or ID from the relevant institution confirming the details.Applicants who want their fathers and mothers name to be corrected must present a document that existed such as birth certificate or marriage certificate of the applicant before the applicant’s registration for the Ghana card.Foreigners requesting to  change their nationality to Ghanaian must also submit a Cirtificate of naturalization, an oath of allegiance document and the non-citizen Ghana card of the applicant.Dual citizens requesting to change from foreign nationality to Ghanaian must present a birth certificate that confirms the nationality of the applicant.A dual citizenship card and a valid Ghana passport are applicable by dual citizens.
Applicants requesting to change their occupation must present a documentary evidence supporting the change such as a professional Certificate of the applicant or record of employment.
Applicants requesting to change their level of education must present school records confirming course taken or new educational level. Change of disability status is not left out, applicants requesting to change disability status must issue statement or letter on a hospital or doctor’s or medical professionals letterhead from an agency of government that provides disability benefits.
“Not every request for an update or replacement will be handled on the day it is made. Review of request may take longer than a day. Applicants will be requested to pay the statutory fee only when requests are approved and not before,”said NIA.
