The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced to customers and all stakeholders that, following the implementation of the PURC-approved tariff effective 1st September 2022, prepaid meters such as BOT, ALPHA and E-CASH are not responding accurately to power purchased by customers.
As indicated before the implementation date, this teething challenge has to do with the date functionality drifts in these prepaid meters.
According to ECG, the technical challenge has been identified and corrected accordingly.
According to the statement from ECG, customers with prepaid meters who run into negative balances after purchasing electricity should please note that ECG technicians are making frantic efforts to visit the customer’s premises to remedy the situation by reprogramming the meters to ensure the refund of customers’ credits and restore power supply.
The statement added that help Desks in all ECG district offices will be working throughout the week including weekends to address all challenges regarding the prepaid meters.
ECG apologized in the statement for the convenience caused to the affected cherished customers.
