He explained that although it was the government that spearhead the development of the economy, all stakeholders offering their best to complement the government’s effort would surely help move the country forward.

Dr Adutwum announced this when he addressed the Bono Regional House of Chiefs at Sunyani on Friday.

His visit follows a request by the House for him to educate them on government policies and all initiatives being executed by the government in the education sector.

Dr Adutwum who is also the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe was very happy meeting them saying, “this is the first House of Chiefs to invite me since my appointment as a Minister for Education”.

“We are working towards the transformation of the country through creating opportunities for the youth to take over the operations of the nation. They are being trained with critical thinking skills”. He said.

National cake

The Education Minister assured the House that the region would not be left out of the government’s development agenda, adding that, the region would surely receive its share of the national cake.

Dr Adutwum eulogized Basic and Senior High Schools in the Bono region for their outstanding performance in the past couple of years and urged stakeholders in the region’s education to continue working hard to maintain their impressive performance.

He urged the House and other stakeholders in the region to continue supporting the development of education since that was the only tool that can be used to turn around the fortunes of the country.

The Education Minister hinted that the St. Ann’s Girls SHS at Sampa would soon be turned into a boarding facility to help improve teaching and learning in the school.

Again Dr Adutwum announced that every effort was being made to ensure that the new campus of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) (which sit on a 2000 acre land) to be constructed at Nsuatre begins as soon as possible.

The President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr Agyemang Badu II, commended Dr Adutwum for responding to their call despite the short notice.

Commendation

He again lauded the Minister for his support towards the development of education in the region and the rest of the country.

Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr Agyemang Badu II appealed to the government to consider expanding the infrastructure of educational institutions in the region, citing the critical needs of the University of Energy and Natural Resources which needed support the most.
