Burnley face a huge test as they look to secure their Premier League status on Sunday, hosting Newcastle on the final day of the season.
The Clarets find themselves level on points with 18th-placed Leeds at the moment, although are just outside of the drop zone on goal difference – matching Jesse Marsch’s side’s result at Brentford will do the job.
With two defeats and a draw in their previous three behind them, here’s how Mike Jackson could set his Burnley players up to face a Newcastle side that has just dispatched Arsenal.
GK: Nick Pope – Has come up with several superb stops in recent weeks and will inevitably retain his spot between the sticks.
CB: Nathan Collins – The young centre-back has definitely been a positive in a season littered with negatives.
CB: James Tarkowski – Returned to the side to skipper his colleagues last time out and will do so once more – potentially playing his last game for the club – as Ben Mee is likely to miss out.
CB: Kevin Long – The Irishman, who has been on the Burnley books for over a decade, is set for a third consecutive start here.
RWB: Connor Roberts – The insatiable Welshman is a joy to behold for any neutral – scrappy, always dynamic and occasionally produces moments of brilliance.
CM: Josh Brownhill – A quietly impressive individual season, in which he has attracted the interest of the likes of West Ham, will surely conclude with another start.
CM: Jack Cork – A very competent deputy for the injured Ashley Westwood, Cork will be awarded an eighth start on the spin this weekend.
CM: Dwight McNeil – His attacking output has simply not been good enough throughout the campaign but he’s also in line for an eighth successive start here.
LWB: Charlie Taylor – Erik Pieters’ continued absence makes Taylor’s spot fairly certain.
ST: Maxwel Cornet – Has fallen a little flat since a blistering start to his Clarets career after his winter move but should start once more, accounting for nearly a quarter of his side’s league goals all season.
ST: Ashley Barnes – Will probably once again be favoured over Wout Weghorst after his goal-scoring contribution at Villa Park last time out.
