Toronto FC’s Carlos Salcedo is likely heading back to Liga MX. Recent reports have linked the Designated Player to FC Juarez, which would mean Salcedo return to a familiar league.

The center-back previously featured for the youth academy teams of Chivas de Guadalajara and Tigres UANL before kicking off his professional career with Real Salt Lake in 2013. He played for the Major League Soccer side’s academy and senior team, meeting the minimum requirements to be defined as an RSL ‘homegrown’ player.

But a lack of playing time during the 2014 campaign saw Salcedo publicly ask Real Salt Lake for an out, sparking his move back to Chivas. Throughout his career, the center-back also saw spells with Fiorentina, Eintracht Frankfurt and Tigres prior to an MLS return with Toronto FC as a DP in 2022.

Now, it looks like Salcedo could be on his way back to Liga MX after just 13 games with the Canadian team.

“I don’t think anything’s final, but it’s such that he will likely end up with a club in Mexico. For a personal, family situation, it was important for him to be back in Mexico,” teased Toronto head coach Bob Bradley.
