Arsenal secured their first top-two finish in the Premier League since 2016 with an impressive 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday.
The Gunners had to deal with plenty of Newcastle jaunts into their defensive third, but ultimately a quality strike from captain Martin Odegaard and a moment of magic from Gabriel Martinelli proved to be the difference between the two sides.
The win sees Arsenal move to within one point of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
Here were Arsenal’s best and worst performers at St. James’ Park, courtesy of 90min’s player ratings.
Martin Odegaard: 9/10
The Arsenal captain led by example on Sunday afternoon, scoring his 15th Premier League goal of the season in the eventual 2-0 win.
Odegaard’s goal, a strike drilled into the bottom corner from 25-yards out, was scored at the most opportune time possible for his teams too. The Gunners were very much under the cosh in the opening 20 minutes, with Newcastle hitting the post and creating a number of chances, and Odegaard’s goal turned the tide of the game.
An impeccable performance from a truly fantastic footballer.
Honourable mention
Aaron Ramsdale: 9/10
While Odegaard was making the difference at one end, Ramsdale was doing the same at the other.

The Arsenal number one made a number of brilliant saves to ensure his team left with all three points on Sunday, the most notable one being one to deny Fabian Schar what looked like a certain goal from point-blank range.
Ben White: 5/10
When your goalkeeper gets a 9/10 rating, something probably wasn’t quite right in the defensive line in front of him.
That thing that wasn’t up to scratch was right-back Ben White on Sunday. The England international really, really struggled to contain the threat of Alexander Isak all afternoon.
Dishonourable mention
Oleksandr Zinchenko: 6/10
A 6/10 isn’t a particularly bad rating, but Zinchenko was one of the few players who failed to leave a real mark on the game for the Gunners on Sunday.
There’s a reason he was subbed off after 60 minutes.
