Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, the revered Chief of Akyem Tafo and leader of the Adonteng Division of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area in the Eastern Region, has offered strong commendations for the policies of the Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia-led administration, particularly highlighting the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy. He praised the initiative for its significant role in alleviating the financial burden on parents and expanding access to quality education, especially for the less privileged in society.
According to Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, the Free SHS policy stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to empowering the youth, stating, “The policy has been a lifeline for many, particularly the poor and vulnerable, enabling them to receive an education that would otherwise be out of reach.” The chief emphasized that the positive impact of this and other flagship policies has been felt across the nation, underscoring Dr. Bawumia’s vision for the future as a continuation of these successes.
During a recent visit by Dr. Bawumia and Chief Buffalo to his palace, Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV expressed his hopes for Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, urging him to expedite ongoing infrastructure projects in the area, notably the road construction efforts. The chief revealed that despite assurances from the contractor to complete the tarring by December 2024, the project’s progress has been slow, leading to ongoing difficulties for the local residents.
“For over eight years, I have appealed to various authorities, including Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, to address the deplorable state of our roads. I implore Dr. Bawumia to use his influence to accelerate these projects, as timely completion will boost the people’s confidence in him and the party,” Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV said.
The chief also called for reforms at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), citing concerns that its current operations are stifling youth employment opportunities in the local area. He urged Dr. Bawumia to address these issues if elected President, while also praising the efforts of local government officials, Hon. Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga and Hon. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, in driving socio-economic development in the region.
In a gesture of gratitude, Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV thanked Dr. Bawumia for his recent donation of ten packets of roofing sheets to aid in the re-roofing of buildings damaged by a rainstorm in February 2024. The chief concluded by offering his prayers and unwavering support for Dr. Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate, Chief Buffalo, expressing confidence in their leadership and urging them to remember Akyem Tafo after their anticipated victory in the 2024 general elections.
These remarks were made during the NPP delegation’s visit to Akyem Tafo as part of the party’s ongoing campaign activities in the region.
