Awaso Academy International Wins 2022 Western North Independence Day Inter-Districts Quiz Competition

Awaso Academy International based in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region has won the third edition of the Western North Regional Independence day Inter-Districts Junior High Schools Quiz Competition held at Christ Apostolic Church, Sefwi Bekwai.
The contest which brought together 9 Junior High Schools in the region.
Awaso Academy International won this year’s competition with 55 points to retain the defending championship.
The competition was sponsored by Kinross Chirano Gold Mines Limited as part of activities to mark the 65th Independence Day celebration.
Enchico Demonstration School from Aowin Municipal came second position with 49 points, followed by EL College from Sefwi Wiawso with 49 points.
This year’s edition focused on Current Affairs, Science, Social Studies, ICT, Sports, Arts and Culture and Pre and Post Independence with the objective to assess the performance of the students in the newly created region.
The winners of this year’s competition took home a trophy, ipad for the three contestants, medals, books, plaque, laptop, tablet, educational materials and certificate.
Enchico Demonstration School and EL College from Sefwi Wiawso Schools, first and second runners up received a laptop, plaques, medals and certificate each.
All the participants in the first, second, and third placed were honoured with other educational materials.
The three constesting students who led their to victory were Etornam Kudaya Jerry, Kwadwo Badu Jeff and Mary Agyemang Duah Bei with support from their teachers who taught them on how to answer the questions.
The Western North Regional Director of Education, Mr Stephen Kwaku Owusu praised the organizers and participating schools for making the programme a success.
He urged the pupils to take their studies seriously to be useful to their families and society.
Mr Eric Akrasi Gyapong, Principal for Awaso Royal International Academy was thankful to the aligmithy God for seeing them through successful.
Mr Akrasi Gyapong also expressed satisfaction in the tremendous delivery by the participants and asked them to keep it up.
He aslo commended his teachers for the wonderful work done to emerging the first position.
Mr Stephen Gyamprah, the Community Ralations Manager for Kinross, Chirano Gold Mines Limited was impressed about the fantastic performance of the participated schools.
He assured them of the company’s readiness to continue to support all educational Programmes within the Region so as to ensure rapid development.
