Mr. Alan Kyeremateng, the Leader of the Movement for Change, has cautioned the Electoral Commission on his
“deep concern on reports of compromised data in respect to the current Voters Register ‘.
This was contained in a letter written on his behalf by Nana Ohene-Ntow, the Director of
Elections Planning and Coordination for the Movement for Change (M4C) on Monday 23rd September, 2024.
The voters register compiled by the Electoral Commission (EC) for the conduct of the 2024 General Elections has
attracted many concerns, and that of Mr. Kyeremateng is the latest.
In the statement signed by Mr Nana Ohene Ntow, a proposal of five “measures in support of securing universal
acceptability of the Voters Register” was put forward.
The statement made clear the necessity of these measures to address the issue of “the manner and process of
remedial action” by the Jean Mensa-led EC had come into “serious public contention”.
It continued to state that due to the fact that “the integrity of the pending Elections rest on the functional
quality of the voters register”, it was important for the M4C (Movement for Change) to outline five measures
to address the very issue.
These five measures included, “The establishment of a high-
level Technical Working Group (TWG) chaired by the EC with representatives of Candidates cleared to contest the
General Elections, and the Consultants responsible for the EC data management”.
The statement went forward to also provide a timeline for the exercise. The M4C suggested for the exercise to
commence on the 30 th of September 2024 and to end on the 11 th of October 2024 to adequately enable the EC to
release a Final Voters Register by the 14 th of October 2024.
The statement further clarified that, “Approaching the resolution of the doubts around the Voters Register in such a
joint manner, ensures transparency of intent that would settle any lingering issues around the Voters Register, and
position the country for a free, fair, transparent, and credible General Elections on December 7, 2024”.
The letter ended with the optimism of the M4C receiving a response from the Electoral Commission by 27 th
September, 2024.
