COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, the head of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO). It stated
that it has recognized her tireless efforts and innovative approaches, which have brought about significant positive
changes to the organization, earning her a well-deserved award.
COP Tiwaa's dedication to excellence and her commitment to fighting economic and organized crime have not gone
unnoticed. Her award is a testament to her hard work and the impact she has made in her role.
The 2024 Annual Internal Auditors Conference has kicked off, with a focus on consolidating democratic and
accountable governance in Ghana. The conference, attended by over 1,000 internal audit practitioners, aims to share
ideas and strategize on improving public sector internal audit practices.
The conference also highlighted successes achieved by internal auditors and audit committees in the past year,
including the adoption and preparation for the rollout of the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS) in January
2025.
Dr. E.O. Osae Director-General, of Internal Audit Agency (IAA), in his opening address, emphasized the critical
role of internal auditors in reducing fiscal risk, strengthening corporate governance, and promoting transparency and
accountability.
He also appealed to the government to fast-track the restructuring process to address the worsening conditions of
service of internal auditors, citing the need to prevent professional abuse in the sector.
The IAA boss reported that despite the National Labour Commission's intervention, the issue of improving
conditions of service remains unresolved. He warned that if care is not taken, the gatekeepers (internal auditors) may
leave the gate open, allowing corruption and irregularities to thrive.
