The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) is mandated to promote and protect the rights of vulnerable populations, ensure gender equality, and foster an inclusive society. To ensure the effectiveness of its efforts, the Ministry conducts periodic reviews of its policies, programmes, and activities.
In line with this commitment, MoGCSP management convened to evaluate the Ministry’s mid-year performance and strategize for the effective implementation of its upcoming programmes. This meeting assessed the progress made so far and outlined plans for the remainder of the year to ensure that the Ministry’s objectives are met.
Additionally, a Budget Committee meeting was held to review the performance of the Ministry’s 2024 approved budget and address related financial matters. The session also focused on reconstituting and inaugurating the Ministry’s Budget Committee, as mandated by the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019, which provide detailed guidelines on the establishment and functioning of budget committees within public sector entities.
These regulations ensure that the committees are properly constituted and operate within the legal framework to manage financial resources effectively.
The committee’s role is crucial in ensuring that financial resources are effectively managed and allocated to support the Ministry’s programmes and initiatives.
In a statement delivered by the Director of PPMED, Mrs. Florence Ayisi Quartey, on behalf of the Chief Director, Dr. Afisah Zakariah, she said the MoGCSP remains committed to its mandate of safeguarding the rights of the vulnerable and promoting gender equality, adding that the mid-year review and budget meetings are pivotal in assessing the Ministry’s progress and refining its strategies to achieve its objectives.
“By adhering to the Public Financial Management Regulations, we ensure the prudent use of resources to further our mission,” she stated.
