Hello period in collaboration with Sports Giving Network have  donated a number of sanitary products to the Nsawam Female Prison (NFP) in the Eastern region, to address the menstrual needs of the inmates.
The items included sanitary pads, toilet rolls, menstrual cups, toilet soap, liquid soap, hand sanitizer among others.
Presenting the items recently at the NFP, the founder of Hello Period, Miss Eno Gyamfua Tweneboa-Kodua mentioned that menstrual hygiene among female inmates is one area which is often overlooked by many.
“We believe that every individual deserves dignity and respect, regardless of their circumstances. By providing these essential products and teachings, we hope to make a positive impact on the lives of these women,” Miss Tweneboa-Kodua said.
A Public Health Consultant at the West African Rescue Association, Dr. Vanessa Mensah- Kabu took the inmates through the benefits of maintaining a good personal and menstrual health, self-care and positivity. She entreated the inmates to be mindful of making menstrual health their priority, by changing menstrual products regularly and keep the genital area clean at all times in order to prevent gynecological related infections.
The Officer in charge of the Nsawam Female Prison, ADP. Victoria Adzewoda expressed her appreciation to the team for the kind gesture, stating that the items donated will go a long way to improve the daily lives of the inmates.
