In a notice to the public, the group notified the public that Ms. Akosua Frimponmaa Sarpong Kumankuma is no more the Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

They stated that by a decision of the National Executive Council (NEC) Ms. Kumankuma was removed from her position of National Chairperson on Tuesday 5th December 2023 in Kumasi.

They alleged that the misconduct and actions of Ms. Kumankuma continue to bring the name of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) into disrepute.

“The Convention People’s Party (CPP) dissociates itself from the recent bizarre and clearly unbalanced comments of Ms. Kumankuma which was published in the Media that public officers will swear by a water deity to prove allegiance under her tenure if she becomes the President of Ghana on the ticket of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

“Ms. Kumankuma’s proposal has been described by many religious groups, civil society organisations (CSOs), and citizens, as senseless. We agree with these sentiments.

“The media and public should hereby take note that her comments are her personal opinions, which neither reflect nor represent the view or position of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

“The Convention People’s Party (CPP) and its Founder Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah believe in Science and Technology as the solution to the problems of our Nation and Africa and not spiritual, purification practices and the invocation of deities as the solution to Ghana’s political and socio-economic problems.

“We entreat the media to desist from contacting or engaging Ms. Sarpong Kumankuma on issues relating to the Convention People’s Party (CPP) because she no longer represents the party in any capacity,” the release stated.

It was signed by Dr. Akwasi Bosompem Boateng, PhD, CPRP in his capacity as

Spokesperson of the Interim Council of CPP.
