The National Chief Imam, Dr. Shiekh Usmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, has condemned the sporadic shooting and violent incident that happened at Nima and Mamobi last Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in the Greater Accra Region. The violence resulted in the injury to some persons within the popular Muslim community.

Violence erupted in the area when two rival groups led by one Kumordzi, alias Ibrahim Hussein and Bombom, alias Ali Awudu, who are said to always disagree on issues, went all out on the streets of Nima.

Seven people have so far been arrested, five in police custody and two are on admission under Police guard.

Speaking on behalf of the National Chief Imam, the Spokesperson for His Eminence, Shiekh Aremeyaw Shaibu pointed out that the Chief Imam condemns the incident and described it as an eye-sore that must not be tolerated.

The National Chief Imam made this observation when he met all the 16 regional Chief Imams at his residence at Fadama on Wednesday. The occasion brought together some prominent people within the Muslim community in the country.

According to National Chief Imam, it is about time the Muslim youth got something better to do for themselves rather than allowing themselves to be used as tools for fomenting violence in the country.

The Daily Searchlight is in complete agreement with the National Chief Imam over the concerns expressed. Indeed, we are shocked and flabbergasted that any youth of a progressive country like Ghana can get up to such antics.

We believe that the people responsible for perpetrating this violence have no excuse, and no reason, for getting up to this kind of public thuggery, hooliganism and gangsterism in a nation like Ghana.

We will not accept this.

We thank the National Chief Imam for speaking out, and we call on Ghanaian mothers and fathers to be courageous enough to call their children to order, because we see nothing here but the results of irresponsible upbringing.

Let us avoid such conducts in future. Because there can be absolutely no excuse for behaving this way.
