The Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Oduro Seth has advised party supporters to fight the apathy that has the potential of thwarting the party’s effort at winning the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
According to Mr. Oduro, the party is at a dangerous point where supporters feel reluctant to sell the policies, programmes and the achievements of the government to the Ghanaian people but are busily fighting each other on who should be the next leader of the party as the party gears up to elect a flag bearer.
Mr. Oduro indicated that he took part in the two recent bye elections; Kumawu and Assin North and was amazed by the levels of apathy that is gradually festering in the rank and file of the party.
“I was at Kumawu and Assin North and l can tell you if as a party we do not make a conscious effort to calm our supporters down events will take us by surprise. Why should some party supporters stand unconcerned as the party takes part in such crucial elections? Why should we kneel down before party supporters to go and cast their ballots? Why should party people openly say they won’t vote because they have issues with some executives in the constituency? It tells you there is a problem.”
Mr. Oduro iterated the point that, the party can have the finest flag bearer but may still struggle in the next elections if the concerns of the base of the party are not addressed.
He emphasized that all the ten aspirants who have filed their nominations to lead the party have the capacity to secure a third elusive victory for the party with a well motivated support base that is eager to work so hard considering the difficult nature of 2024 elections.
Mr. Oduro said this during Freshers Hunt and Capacity Building program held for the members of TESCON Dadiesoaba Nursing and Midwifery School in the Ahafo region.
