The Ahmadiyya Muslim sect celebrated their Eid ul-Adha Festival at their headquarters at Agbogba
Ashongman in Accra.
All of them congregated to give thanks to Allah and offer sacrifices for glory, thanksgiving and sacrificing
an animal as a symbol as instructed by Allah himself Prophet Abraham to do in the good books and the
Quran.
The sermon that lasted for about one hour saw the large assemblage of the sect; both males and
females.
The sermon was preached by the Ahmadiyya National Leader Alhaj Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih.
He explained the rationale behind the annual sacrifice by the sect and its religious significance. He
indicated Allah wanted to have a pact with father Abraham to make him the leader of men. Allah therefore
tested the faith of father Abraham to create a while nation through him.
But instead of human sacrifice as requested God himself provided a ram for the purpose. As a result
Abraham and his descendants were blessed and multiplied to become the father of all nations through
Ishmael and Isaac.
But Abraham postulated that this covenant would not cover transgressors even they his descendants. So
the brothers of Isaac and Ishmael being Israelis and Arabs are the two great nations coming direct from
Abraham but separated by religious doctrines. He noted that it was therefore imperative to observe this
historic and religious ceremony to fulfil the directive and instruction of God.
This singular act and obedience of father Abraham bestowed prosperity, peace, friendship with God and
his descendants multiplied in droves. He likened Abraham’s situation to our land Ghana that our
forefathers toiled to establish and christened the Gold Coast.
According to him Ghana was the shining star of Africa and gateway to the African continent. However that
frame has been dashed for some bizarre circumstances. Until and unless we find Allah's way of doing
things, we shall continue to wallow in myriad of challenges.
He argued that these challenges and tribulations may tend to have psychological and physical lessons to
lead mankind to toughen oneself to meet challenges. As humans we may face these challenges and
difficulties but it takes the power of Allah to intercede for mankind.
He posited that all those challenges can be turned around if man turns away from his dubious and odd
behaviours. The Ameer stated that the panacea for scaling these challenges is for leaders in aspects of
national life to avoid deeds that negatively impact on the citizenry.
In the same vein, citizens must be responsible, patriotic and obedient to national duty. Nations have
never been great and successful without hard work and sacrifice. This requires leadership with humility,
sincerity and determination. Its leaders must regard themselves as servants of the people they serve.
